Petru starts his musical journey at a young age with his father who is a violin player, and at the age of ten joins the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole where he gets a BA in cello in 2010 under the guidance of Filippo Burchietti.
He moves to London from 2010 to 2012 where he gets an MA with Mats Lidström at the Royal Accademy of Music. Not happy with the convenience of carrying the cello, in 2014 he begins studying the double bass and in 2017 he gets a BA at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole with Alessandro Giachi.
During his student years he takes part at variuous cello, double bass and chamber music masterclasses: Piero Farulli, Erich Höbart, Trio Altemberg, Trio di Parma, Quartetto Kuss, Enrico Bronzi, Alberto Bocini, Riccardo Donati, Marco Martelli.
Curious and lover of music in general, he loves to range from baroque music (Cappella musicale di san Lorenzo), to the symphony orchestra (Maggio musicale Fiorentino), and to contemporary music (Contempo art ensemble), without leaving behind jazz, pop and rock collaborating in concerts and recordings of various artists. He is a member of the group Quartocolore (accordion, guitar / violin, cello / double bass).
